In answer to: I placed a bid on a short sale and it was listed for $429,000 in aug. The bank just got back saying they'll accept $454,000 dec...what am I missing?

Chances are that the servicer for the loan recently received an inaccurate BPO or appraisal for the property that valued the property above the list price. Now one of the bean counting loss negotiators decided to try and recoupe some of the banks losses by countering the offer well above the list price!
