Greenville is a home for everyone. It is a big city with a small city flavor. For some people the traffic feels like you've gone backward 20 years. There's no place in Greenville that you can't get to in 10-20 minutes. There is the typical rush hour traffic...for about half an hour, and then life is back to normal. If you live in areas like Thornblade, Spaulding Farm, Ashton, Ashton Springs, Stonehaven, River Walk, Holly Tree, and Holly Trace, you can get from your door to the Greenville - Spartanburg International Airport within 30 minutes under normal conditions.

The downtown area of Greenville is very quaint, but cosmopolitan. The Peace Center offers wonderful cultural arts performances. The Bi-Lo Center is home of the Greenville Grrrowl!--our own professional hockey team--and the Greenville Groove, our Basketball Development League (NBDL) team. Many wonderful restaurants line the streets of the downtown area. It seems like all we do in Greenville is eat. Four times a year we close the streets downtown and have festivals, enjoying our mild climate and lots of good food. Several luxurious hotels host local, national, and international guests for conferences, celebrations, and just plain vacations.

Our city is also proud of the numerous universities and colleges surrounding Greenville. These include Furman University, Clemson University, Bob Jones University, Greenville Technological College, and others.

The city is rooted in tradition, designed and built around many historical sites including: Reedy River Falls, Christ Episcopal Church, West End Market, the Augusta Road area, and many more.
