In answer to: what happens next, my neighbors received a 72 hour eviction notice on their foreclosed home three weeks ago,and are still there
Depending on the bank, they may have sheriff serve them with notice, begin proceedings, or wait. Since I am unsure where they are in the process, the next step the bank takes may be restricted by state law, or particular banking practices. Often houses are auctioned with current residents still there and it becomes an "issue" of home's new owners to remove prior occupant. I have heard of forclosed homeowners out in 48 hours and others remaining for 6-18 months. There are a lot of variables, your neighbors should work with forclosing bank to reach a negotiated solution, if possible.

Although this home has an accepted offer, they are accepting back up offers. It is a short sale that means a bank ust approve conditions of offer and they often take weeks to months to respond. It is a conodo with town water and sewer with a monthly condo fee of 175. Even though this is a buyers market, houses that are realisticly priced with the options this home had do tend to go under agreement quickly.
