In answer to: how much are homes selling for in my neighborhood?
Hi Philip. Find a local agent in your area and ask them to do a comparable report for you. This will tell you what has recently sold in your neighborhood and at what price. Good luck.

In answer to: My husband and I are looking to purchase our first home. What should we do first?
Hi Kishana. The first step is to meet with a lender in your area and see exactly where you are at, financially. They will ask for some information and then tell you what you can afford (on paper) based on your debt to income ratio. Remember, just because they tell you that you can afford a home in a certain price range, doesn't mean you have to go that high. Make sure you are comfortable with the mortgage amount and other expenses that come along with owning a home. After that, I would find a realtor in your area and together, you can find your perfect home. Good luck to you!

In answer to: What are the steps that need to be taken for a first time home buyer when considering purchasing a home?
Hi Daryvone. One of the first things to do is to get your ducks in a row when it comes to financing. See a lender in your area and have them get you pre-approved. You will need this when submitting an offer, down the road. Next, I would begin to search for a realtor in your area. It won't cost you anything and it will save you a lot of stress and time to work with an agent, especially since this is your first home purchase. Good luck!

In answer to: is the process for purchasing a home with cash the same as getting a loan?
Hi Christie. Usually when it is a cash deal, the buyer has a little more negotiating power and can sometimes get a better deal on it. However, I have found that when it comes to bank owned properties or foreclosures, that is not always necessariy the case. When multiple offers are involved the banks may still choose the higher, financed offer verses a lower, cash deal. It just depends on whom you are dealing with. Good luck!

In answer to: do i need a credit score to rent a home?
Hi Eli. Most places whether it is a property rental company or a private owner will do some kind of credit check on a rental applicant. It helps to go in person so they can meet you and see what kind of person you are for themselves. Good luck!
