Richard Raap was born and raised on the NW side of Chicago, is a Lane Tech H. S. graduate, and received a Bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale).

Richard has been associated with RE/MAX Realtors since 1984, and completed advanced State testing for his Broker license (1990). He furthered his professional education by obtaining the GRI (Graduate of Realtors Institute) designation (1994), the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation (1996), the SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) in 2003, the CRPM (Certified Residential Property Manager) in 2010 and State of Illinois residential appraiser license (inactive) in 1999. He has been recognized as a "Top 40 Agent" by the Chicago Association of Realtors, and is a member RE/MAX "Hall of Fame".
