Before I moved to the area in 1977, all I knew of the Pikes Peak Region and Colorado was pictures that I had seen in books and magazines. When I relocated I was overwhelmed by the stunning beauty of the mountains. I can truly say that moving to the Pikes Peak Region was one of the best decisions I have made. It is a wonderful place to raise a family. The true test of a great place to live is the people, and the people in the region are very friendly and welcoming as any you would hope to find. Teller County consists of 557 square miles, half of which is State and Federal land interspersed with large tracks of ranch land. This provides many opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast; camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and cross country skiing, to rock hounding and exploring the mining and native history of the area. With over 300 days of sunshine per year and many hiking trails, there is no reason not to go out and explore this wonderful area. A warning to the newcomers, never leave home without your camera! You will want to capture the beauty of the mountains and the wildlife. Teller County has a population of approximately 23,000 with Woodland Park consisting of 7,100. Schools are great and always striving for higher standards. A new hospital and library are a compliment to the area along with a new Walmart. Woodland Park has its own golf course and dinosaur museum. You can enjoy theater, art, and fabulous restaurants. Sports are very big in the community and the sports complex offers, soccer, baseball, tennis, hockey and ice skating in addition to basketball and track & field. With Colorado Spring only 18 miles away, you can take advantage of the many colleges and universities, fine arts, regional shopping and the many other opportunities of the region. The region offers a good selection of homes, condos, and townhomes. From cabins to castles, typical neighborhoods to mountain properties, and gated communities to ranches.
