We started one of the most successful real estate companies in west Houston many years ago by accident. Back in the mid 1980's we started helping clients sell their current homes so that they could buy new homes from some builders that we worked for at the time. Well you know or have heard what the market was like in Houston back in the '80s, TERRIBLE! We did almost no advertising about ourselves yet once word got out that we could get the job done we received more and more clients through word-of-mouth. Eventually, we were selling more re-sale homes than new homes and our new company was on a roll! A few years ago, we saw a need for access to services for our clients that only a large company could offer. Things like internet and web exposure, high quality marketing materials, a steady pipeline of relocation buyers and people with exposure to the latest trends in the real estate industry. At that time House Hunters/ Heritage Texas Properties was looking for an opportunity to expand into west Houston. We were able to join forces and gain the economies of scale for which we were looking. Plus we have been able to offer our clients more services than we ever dreamed possible. For Sandra and me, one of the most rewarding things about our merger was that we were freed from management responsibilities, offering us plenty of time to concentrate on doing what we love, helping our clients get the most enjoyment and benefit out of their homes. There are a few agents out there that sell more homes than we do, not many, but a few. You've seen their ads "Call me, I am the top agent in the known universe!" or something to that effect. What they don't tell you is that they then assign you to one of their low paid underlings but they take all of the glory. With ads like that, are they really interested in you or just big numbers? Talk to someone that's dealt with this type of agent, more than likely, they could probably never even reach the guy that's out tooting his big horn. We'd prefer that you toot our horn for us. If needed, we think that it's important that we be able to tell you that you should walk away from a deal if we don't think it's a good one for you. A better one will probably come along. That doesn't save us time but it sure does get us a lot of referrals!
