Travel to One of These Underrated February Destinations

While summer temperatures draw crowds of tourists and travelers across states and continents, winter, too, is a great time to travel. Hotel and airfare prices sink during off-season winter months, and top tourist destinations have fewer crowds in January and February. This winter, venture into uncharted territory, and visit one of these eight underrated spots for a February vacation.

1. Dublin, Ireland

In February, round trip flights to Ireland can often fall below $400 from the continental U.S. This February, head to Dublin to explore underrated local favorite watering holes. Start your exploration of this Irish City in Dublin’s Creative Quarter – a newly formed area just south of Temple Bar. Spend a week wandering an old industrial district-turned-modern neighborhood full of independent shops, bars, and restaurants.

2. Sayulita, Mexico

25 miles north of downtown Puerto Vallarta, you’ll find the perfect beach enclave: Sayulita. This underrated beach destination is easy to reach, yet Sayulita offers a more relaxed atmosphere than many other vacation destinations in Mexico. This February, enjoy days filled with spicy breakfasts, jungle walks, and days spent on the beach below Mexican celebration flags ask you bask in relaxation.

3. Montreal, Canada

Francophiles should take advantage of February deals in Montreal, Canada. Currently, round-trip flights from New York City to Montreal start as low as $213 in February. Another reason to visit Montreal in the winter? Winter months in Montreal are magical with a run of festivals, including Igloofest for electronic music fans, and the Fete des Neiges de Montreal, a whimsical snow festival.

For winter sports enthusiasts, search no further than Salt Lake City. As an underrated February ski location, hotel and snow resort costs are lower than other top winter destinations in Colorado and California. Our recommendations: try Park City and Snowbird Ski Resort. While you’re enjoying the snow in Salt Lake City, make sure to visit other city landmarks, including Temple Square and Wasatch National Forest trails.
