The beautiful city of Annapolis sits on the Chesapeake Bay. It offers a convenient location and is close to multiple top cities. Baltimore is 25 miles north of the city, and Washington DC is 30 miles west. For this reason, Annapolis is considered to be apart of the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. The city is filled with history, serving as the location for the Annapolis Convention in 1786. It is also home to the United States Naval Academy and the seat of the Continental Congress. Interestingly, Puritan exiles arrived in the area arrived in the 1600s. It later became part of the royal colonies. At the beginning of the 1700s, Annapolis was incorporated as a city. After this time, the area experienced substantial growth. At one time, Annapolis was actually the capital of the United States.
