Ballston Spa, New York, is a village located near a natural spring, southwest of the town of Saratoga Springs. There are mostly residential single family homes, along with a number of condominiums, within a total area of 1.6 square miles. The village is known for its charm, with historical buildings dating back to the Victorian era and even from the Colonial period.

Most Ballston Spa residents work in sales, office, or administration support occupations. Ballston Spa has four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. There is also a Catholic school and a Christian elementary school. Ballston Spa has a number of shops and restaurants, along with historical hotels that provide spa services. The Union Mill Complex, also known as the West Mill Complex or the Chocolate Factory, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was once a large manufacturing enterprise that produced paper bags and later, chocolate. The Verbeck House is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is known for its neoclassical Queen Anne style. The National Bottle Museum features the history of American bottle making and glass blowing classes. The Brookside Museum was formerly a hotel for visitors to the mineral springs but now houses the Saratoga County Historical Society. It has also served as a school, a boarding house, and a home.
