Tropicana Juice Company was first established in Bradenton by Anthony T. Rossi. While the company headquarters were recently moved to Chicago, much of the company's production facilities are still located in the region. Champs Sports and Bealls both have headquarters in Bradenton and contribute greatly to the area's economy. There are a number of local newspapers, radio stations and T.V. stations that cover the Bradenton area. While growth in the city was mildly hindered due to the recent recession, it has been steadily recovering for the past couple years. The eastern side of the city has been quickly developing. The attractive subdivision of Lakewood Ranch has quickly blossomed into a booming and active part of town. While it can be humid at times particularly in the summer when the average temperature is 91 degrees, the city gets 249 days of sun, and the winter low is only 50 degrees.
