The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, ABC Studies, Marvel Studies, Nickelodeon, and NBC all are either headquartered in Burbank or have significant production facilities within its city limits. The Bob Hope Airport is also located in Burbank, California. The city was named after David Burbank, a New Hampshire-born dentist and entrepreneur, who originally purchased over 4,600 acres of the area in 1867. The city's success has surged exponentially since then, even weathering the drought and depression that struck Los Angeles in the 1890s. The city's first newspaper, the Burbank Review, was established in 1906, and now Burbank is home to around 103,000 people and numerous globally acknowledged media institutions.
