Planned and built by Disney following a small-town model, Celebration, Florida is a community of approximately 9,000 residents in Osceola County. Just 30 minutes from Orlando, Downtown Celebration is surrounded by planned "villages," each with its own personality and a variety of styles and sizes of homes, packed with parks and amenities. Closer to downtown, townhomes and condos line the streets, where some of the more outlying neighborhoods are replete with cozy bungalows and sprawling neo-colonial estate homes.

Celebration welcomed its first residents in 1996. They enjoy a compact, walkable downtown with a variety of shops and restaurants as well as numerous recreational and residential opportunities. Many of the municipal and retail buildings downtown were designed by prominent architects. Even as the villages spread away from downtown, they're linked by walking trails and public green space, with an eye toward keeping the need for driving around town to a minimum. Major area highways, however, are close by, so residents can easily commute to Orlando or enjoy the many attractions that have made Central Florida famous as a vacation destination. Walt Disney World is in fact connected to Celebration via World Drive, one of its main thoroughfares.
As befits a community designed for walkability, Celebration offers residents numerous opportunities around the year to come together. Events like the farmers market, monthly Food Truck Fridays, and seasonal arts-and-crafts festivals keep downtown a desirable destination. While Central Florida enjoys temperate weather year-round, Downtown Celebration sees falling leaves in the autumn and "snowfall," in the form of soap flakes, in December. Twice a year community members can participate in a town-wide yard sale, and their annual "Great American Pie Festival" is featured on the Food Network. Recreation centers, meeting rooms, banquet halls, and indoor and outdoor performing arts venues are sprinkled around town, and there are clubs and classes aimed at every interest. Residents have access to swimming lessons, theater camps, dance and martial arts classes, and social groups include an artists' group, a writers' group, a Spanish club, and even a chapter of the Red Hat Society. The Osceola County library has a branch in Celebration, and the town has its own grade school, high school, and an extension of Stetson University. The hospital takes multiple approaches to community health by offering a day spa and fitness center.
