Located just 30 miles from Washington D.C., Chantilly, Virginia, has a robust inventory of single-family residences, townhouses and condos to suit the needs of anyone looking for a home that is within commuting distance to the nation's capital. Homes in the unincorporated community of 23,000 people sell, on average, at prices higher than those for the Washington D.C. metro area overall. But housing in Chantilly is still less expensive than it is in other D.C. suburbs.

Chantilly has been named one the best places to live in Virginia by Movoto, which cited the community's high school graduation rate that far surpasses the state average, as well as it's low crime rate. Part of the Fairfax County Public Schools system, Chantilly is home to several highly rated public schools. There also are many private schools located in the community. For higher education there are dozens of colleges and universities within 50 miles of Chantilly, including George Mason University, University of George Washington and Howard University. An area steeped in colonial and early American history, Chantilly was home to many plantations during the 18th century - including its namesake Chantilly Plantation. In 1862, the Battle of Chantilly was fought near the community and a five-acre portion of the battleground has been preserved
