One of Concord's most famous neighborhoods is the Historic District, which runs along North and South Union Street near Engelwood Avenue. This area was developed after 1870 and is comprised mostly of late 19th- and early 20th-century homes. It is one of the most prestigious and beautiful places in the city. The North Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is predominantly residential and includes Greek revival and late Victorian-style architecture. Memorial Garden, a 3-acre park located in the 200-year-old cemetery of the First Presbyterian Church, is in the North Historic District and is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. This charming area contains several other historical landmarks as well.
