While technically a city in Iowa, Council Bluffs is actually a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska and lies a short nine miles to the East of downtown. Named for a famous meeting between the Lewis and Clark with the Otoe Native Americans, the area is rich with history of natives and settlers alike. The Historic General Dodge House, monuments to the explorers and a Railroad museum all offer residents a chronicle of the past. A bowling alley, a family fun center, several clubs and a diversity of stores and shops are clustered along the highway six corridor and scattered throughout the rest of town.
