Davenport is a small town with a population of around 3,000. This city boasts some of the best health care in Florida, as there is access to over 38 hospitals within a 60-mile radius. Polk State College is nearby, but there are at least five other colleges and universities within 30 miles of the city's center. The most common industry in the area is construction, but the city also has a decent amount of retail, entertainment and dining. Another perk to living here is that it is a short commute to the larger neighboring cities that have their own growing economies to brag about. As a result, residents benefit from living in a less-crowded environment but still having the occupational and recreational benefits of the bigger metropolitan areas nearby.
