Two festivals are held annually in Lake City. One is the Olustee Battle Festival, which is centered around the reenactment of a battle fought during the American Civil War. Soldiers from both sides of the conflicts are honored with a memorial service and a festival and craft show takes place. Several outdoor activities take place, such as a parade, a museum exhibit, and dancing. Another is the Alligator Warrior Festival, which celebrates Lake City's historical roots as a former Seminole community, which evolved into a larger public community with Europeans, Africans, and mixed-race settlers. The history and the culture are honored and trade skills, such as blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, and barrel making , are demonstrated. Shopping malls are popular, as are the golf and country club, the farmers markets, and the county historical museum.
