For many people, Louisiana is the ideal embodiment of southern culture due to the romantic imagery of movies, art, and literature. Despite unexpected hurricanes and occasional flooding, a handful of historic homes can still be found amidst a sea of properties that were built well after 1970. A majority of the real estate in Louisiana features two or three bedrooms, but new construction of single-family homes is expected to provide larger housing in revitalized communities throughout the state.

The most popular city in Louisiana for both residents and visitors is New Orleans. If you are interested in exploring the roots of this region, New Orleans is always buzzing with excitement and is a prime location for historic flats and plantation houses. Baton Rouge, on the other hand, is a politically focused port along the Mississippi River that has recently made great strides in the performing arts. In the center of the state, Alexandria has a much smaller population with small bayous and natural pine forests. Lake Charles, however, is considered a good place to find educational opportunities. Students who live in this area have convenient access to Sowela Technical Community College and McNeese State University as well as the Delta School of Business and Technology.
