This mid-sized town, known as a ranching and farming community, has a population of nearly 35,000 people. Tucson is the next largest city, located just down Interstate 10 and Phoenix, Arizona's capital city, is located a mere hour and a half north. Marana has a job creation incentive plan as well as the Expedited Development Review Incentive Program in place to entice new businesses to move to town and to help current businesses grown and expand. The Downtown Marana Reinvestment Fund is part of a revitalization of the downtown district, encouraging continual development in the area.

Marana is not the place you will find Victorian mansions or plentiful apartment living, but if you are looking for a two or three-bedroom ranch-style house on a sizable lot of land, you have found home. A few larger options are also available around town. For those wanting to keep plenty of space between your house and the neighbors', it is not difficult to find properties with well over an acre of land included. Many of the single family structures offer a Southwestern, country living vibe. Finding a reasonably priced place is quite doable in Marana, with costs well below the national housing average.
