Mechanicsburg, PA, offers something for everybody. The downtown area has a small-town feel with quaint businesses, but life is faster-paced in the Carlisle Pike area. The housing market is just as diverse, with a mix of residential and commercial properties. Houses range from those built in the 1800s to brand new developments, like the Landmark Homes neighborhood, which features an eclectic range of small family homes, high-end apartments and townhomes. The largest group of houses on the market includes comfortable family homes built in the 1980s.

The town is often called charming thanks to the fact that is has a cozy, small-town atmosphere. With a population of around 9,000, it is a far cry from big cities like Harrisburg. However, a huge perk of Mechanicsburg is its proximity to everything. You can easily pop into the city or go on a day trip thanks to quick access to multiple interstates and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. You may never feel the need to venture outside the city limits, though, because the town is known for its walkability, meaning you can walk just about anywhere in town that you need to go with ease. The downtown area is quite compact with restaurants, shops and entertainment, which are all situated in the same area.
