Saint Louis is known world-wide for its Gateway Arch and is a major port along the Mississippi River. It is an epicenter for sports and entertainment, home to two professional sport teams and several museums. The city is affordable, and even though it is the largest metropolitan area in Missouri, it still maintains its small-town vibe. The largest city in state is Kansas City, which sits on the border of, you guessed it, Kansas. It is recognized for being the launching pad for the Kansas City styles of blues and jazz and is known across the country for its famous Kansas City Barbeque. It has a lively cultural and performing arts scene, with the ballet, opera and symphony. It is also a sports town; home of the Royals and the Chiefs. Another large city in Missouri is Springfield, which is geographically and culturally tied to Arkansas and Oklahoma by the Ozark Mountains. It is a college town, home to Missouri State University, and has recently undergone revitalization throughout the city.
