However, from Easter to Labor Day, the Modesto Nuts baseball team is the main attraction for locals. The minor league club plays 70 home games a season. Over the past decade, Modesto has become a popular host for music festivals like the Downtown summer concert series, X-Fest and SummerFest. This isn't surprising considering the city is known as one of the birthplaces for modern rock and roll. In 1938, the city fostered the roots of rockabilly music with the Maddox Brothers and Rose.
