Monroe is a beautiful area in the Hudson River Valley, just northwest of Harriman State Park. It's a favorite seasonal getaway for many in the greater New York area, as a rural summer vacation spot or an autumn hunter's getaway. Winter skiing is also an option in the nearby town of Tuxedo. Walton Lake, Round Lake and Mombasha Lake are all within the borders of the town of Monroe, as are many farms and meadows.
