Access to the city is made possible by the spectacular Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, which was built in 2005 and is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the United States. Due to its location across the river from Charleston, the homes in this area used to be reserved only for the most prestigious Charleston residents, who typically used them as summer homes.
