Mount Pocono was once a mountain retreat with railroad access to New York City and the popular honeymoon resort of Mount Airy Lodge. With the backdrop of the mountains, Mount Pocono continues to be a popular tourist destination but also offers the kinds of conveniences and amenities to make it a wonderful place to live. Many major national and regional shopping outlets and restaurants can be found there, as well as public transportation through the Monroe County transit Authority. Mount Pocono is also close to two airports and has a municipal airport in town.
