Renowned as a resort up and down the eastern seaboard since the late nineteenth century, today Ocean City, Maryland has a year-round population of roughly 7,000 residents. It stretches across four square miles of barrier island in the Atlantic ocean, and is visited by tourists year-round, and especially in the summer months. Homebuyers looking for oceanfront ambience will be as delighted by the variety of high- and low-rise condominiums and one-and two-story single-family homes available as by their buyer-friendly price point.

Popular for its seaside location since the days Algonquian tribes came to the island to fish, Ocean City was still a sleepy fishing outpost in 1875, when the opening of the Atlantic Hotel attracted visitors. The next year the railroad came across the Sinepuxent Bay, and Ocean City's destiny as a resort town was sealed. Winters are cool, with the temperature occasionally falling below freezing, but in the summertime, Ocean City's ten miles of beach and three miles of old-fashioned boardwalk are among the east coast's most popular attractions. The boardwalk is packed with family-friendly activities, including bike rentals, carnival rides, and arcades, and a tram runs the length of it, collecting and dropping riders at various shops and restaurants.
