Located just 35 miles east of Los Angeles, Ontario, California is the fourth populous city in the State of California. The Ontario Model Colony was established in 1882 by George Chaffey and his two brothers, naming it after Ontario, Canada, their former home. The land was originally used for hunting and foraging by the Tongva Serrano Indians. It was later a prime area that attracted citrus farmers and Easterners who were seeking a drier climate for their health.
