Suburban living on the doorstep of California's second-largest city is what has been drawing people to Poway, California for decades. At a first glance, this semi-rural town may seem like a bedroom community, but a closer look shows quite a bit of industry to sustain the nearly 50,000 people who live in the mission-style houses, condominiums and townhouses that make up this San Diego suburb.
Situated near the geographic center of San Diego County, Poway offers residents the unique location of being within a reasonable drive of many different points of interests. For workers who commute downtown, a short 20-minute drive is all that it takes. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, --which employs many people in the area- is even closer at a mere 10 miles, and General Atomics operates several large facilities within the Poway city limits. Besides location, many San Diegans choose to settle in this suburb because of the school system, which is constantly rated as the best in the county.
