A planned community in Southern California's Inland Empire, Rancho Cucamonga offers a large inventory of single-family houses, townhouses and condos at a median home price that is lower than that of California as a whole. Being a newer community - the city was incorporated in 1977 - many of the available homes were built between the late 1970s and today, though ranch-style houses of the 50s and 60s also can be found. Located about 40 miles from both Los Angeles and Orange County, Rancho Cucamonga is a popular bedroom community for commuters.
Appearing multiple years on Money magazine's Best Places to Live list, Rancho Cucamonga presents homebuyers with diverse housing options, ranging from less-expensive starter homes to multi-million dollar mansions. On the high end, the city of more than 171,000 residents is home to Haven View Estates, which has been ranked as one of the richest neighborhoods in Southern California. Many of the city's neighborhoods are planned gated communities that offer an assortment of amenities. Situated near two interstate highways and Ontario International Airport, Rancho Cucamonga is a hub for the Southern California logistics industry and is the location of several large distribution centers. Some smaller manufacturing plants are located in the city, as well as office parks. The local school district is the city's largest employer.
