Filled with over 150,000 people, Salem is currently one of the largest cities in all of Oregon. It's a town rich in history and culture being founded in the 1830s by Methodist missionaries looking to establish a mission in the area. That first building eventually became what's now known as the famed Willamette University. Along with its prestigious school and education programs, Salem is also known for its excellent economy with over 30% of its workforce lying in government positions and another large portion employed by Salem Health. The city makes getting to work, school and activities easy with its public transportation system, Amtrak train lines and easy access to major freeways. With its strong ties to community and dedication to the well-being of its residents, Salem is an ideal place to live for many.
