Savannah is truly a city of varied and distinctive neighborhoods. The city is divided into six separate districts, all of which have a wonderful flair and charm about them. Downtown, Midtown, Southside, Eastside, Westside, and Southwest/West Chatham are the principle areas. The Downtown region is further subdivided into the Landmark Historic District and the Victorian District, areas known for their 19th and 20th century architecture and old world buildings. The Savannah Historic District is one the largest in the United States, and four other communities whose antiquity have been preserved make up the rest of the historical enclaves. These are the Victorian District, the Cuyler-Brownsville District, the Thomas Square District, and the Pin Point Historic District. Beyond these dividing lines, over 100 additional neighborhoods have been identified in the Savannah downtown area and beyond it.
