Spring Hill was first inhabited by settlers in 1808 and by 1809 the city had been established. The land was the site of a Civil War Battle in 1864 now called the Battle of Spring Hill, where the Confederate Army of Tennessee attacked a Union force. Rippavilla Plantation, a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a remaining relic of those earlier days. The plantation provides an annual corn maze as well as educational activities in its museum. Other attractions for curious tourists or entertainment-seeking locals are the Spring Hill Antique Mall, the Spring Hill Self-Guided Battlefield Driving Tour, the King's Creek Golf Club, and the Tennessee Museum of Early Farm Life. This last activity can be found just behind the Rippavilla Plantation, and offers a display of horse- and mule-drawn equipment that dates back to the days of the city's origins.
