Stafford, Texas is a small city in the metropolitan area of Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land. Most of the city resides in Fort Bend County; however, a small area of the city is part of Harris County. Stafford is home to over 17,000 residents, and there are many affordable homes for sale. Several of the homes have beautiful yards and a few bedrooms. Most of the homes offer a traditional design that is appealing to homebuyers.
The town of Stafford began as a plantation in the 1800s. Soon, settlers began to inhabit the area around the plantation. This location was called Stafford's Point, and it was a popular town site. Today, Stafford is home to a diverse group of residents, including whites, blacks, Native Americans, and Asians. Interestingly, the city does not have municipal property tax. The city motto is "City with no property taxes." Although the city is considered a bedroom community, several people commute to the area for work. Stafford's top companies include UPS and Tyco. UPS has a large plant in Stafford and is actively hiring for jobs. There are also smaller businesses scattered throughout the city. Stafford actually has 15 different business parks, a large shopping center, and 19 motels and hotels.
