Baseball fans will delight in the fact that each spring, the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers spend the season training at Surprise Stadium. Within the same campus you'll also find the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, where you can take lessons, practice or attend tournaments. Anglers should be sure to check out Surprise Lake, where catfish, trout, bass, sunfish and amur can all be caught. Locals frequent the Irish Wolfhound Pub for food, spirits and live music, along with big screen TVs so as not to miss an important game. Veggie lovers should look into Community Sponsored Agriculture organizations such as Sunizona Family Farms, where weekly "farm box" pickups can be scheduled.

Flora Mae Statler founded Surprise, Arizona in 1938. She named it such because she "would be surprised if the town ever amounted to much." Well surprised she would be, to know that this small plat would become one of the fastest growing cities in the nation between 2000 and 2010. Lots of new homes are available at reasonable prices, along with other modern properties built in the 2000s. Houses rule the market here, but you'll also find a number of condos and townhomes.
