Technically comprised of two neighboring cities situated along the borders of Arkansas and Texas, Texarkana is a part of Bowie County and spans a total land area of 29 square miles. It also offers a significantly lower cost of living and convenient access to several major highways off Interstate 30. Real estate in the area is affordably priced as well, and features a range of townhouses, mobile communities and single-family homes built in the latter half of the 20th century.

The top local industries in Texarkana are healthcare, education and retail trade, but a large percentage of the population also works in careers that involve manufacturing and production. In addition, most residents spend no more than 15 minutes on average traveling to work each day and prefer to commute by car. On the other hand, if you are interested in pursuing a higher level of education, the city is also home to three local universities. This includes a small school of cosmetology, along with Texarkana College and Texas A&M University, both of which occupied the same campus prior to 2006.
