The city of Tucson, AZ, is just north of the U.S.-Mexico border and is home to almost a million people. For outdoor enthusiasts, the five mountain ranges that surround the city offer hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. The downtown area is also home to abundant commerce, featuring the Broadway Village Shopping Center, 4th Avenue Shopping District and El Con Mall. Students living in central Tucson near the University of Arizona are also close to the expansive Reid Park and Reid Park Zoo. Luckily, residents are often able to get around without cars, with some streets being designated as bicycle-only except for local traffic. There are also several riverfront bike and walk paths, giving residents the chance to ride to enjoy the scenery or to commute to work via bicycle.
