The city is conveniently located to major cities. It is approximately 25 miles from Downtown Tampa, which is particularly appealing for people who commute to work. In addition, the city is close to major transportation hubs, including Interstate 275 and Interstate 75. The region was originally called Double Branch. However, community residents renamed it after the Methodist church in the area. The majority of residents in the area are white. There are also a good portion of blacks, Asians, Latinos, and Native Americans. Nearly half of the households have young children living in their homes. However, Wesley Chapel is also home to retired individuals and people who prefer to live alone. Most of these individuals live in houses; however, there is a good portion of apartments in the area.
