I was struck by several things when I first arrived at this home. First, I was surprised how close it was to the center of Beech Mountain, Freds Mercantile and the restaurants. And I was surprised how close it was to the ski slopes. Being close to both of these is good for several reasons. Being less than a mile to town center and between it and the slopes it is convenient for both purposes. Also, being that close to town it is extremely high in elevation so you never swelter in summer which is a huge draw for Beech Mountain above 5000 elevation when fifteen miles away people are baking. Another big surprise for me though was the strength of the home itself. Ive walked into a lot of properties on the mountain in the last eleven years and am not always expecting a lot. But this one passed muster! When I drove up although I liked the convenient location I wondered what this little round house would have to offer. Quite a lot I quickly discovered. The owners have taken exquisite care of their little abode. Its been updated to a T. I walked around to the rear entrance and observed the extent of the wraparound deck which was refreshing. Around back the deck expands and a nice distant view emerges. A breeze is gently blowing. Stepping inside though, youre immediately struck by its great appeal. Everything is clean, new and fresh. And its big. On this main walk-in level youve an enormous great room with several separate seating areas and a large stone fireplace. Windows abound admitting a flood of natural sunlight to brighten everything. Ahead is a bath and two bedrooms to the rear. Above is a soaring, stout-beamed, cathedral ceiling which greatly adds to the sense of spaciousness. Thats 700 square feet of comfort. Lets proceed down the spiral staircase to the next 700. Here we enter a freshly updated kitchen with modern conveniences and an attractive appearance. Again, weve got another great room for two separate gathering spaces and another pair of beds and separate bath. Outside both levels is a view deck affording four separate gathering spaces in friendly weather. What is striking though to me is the good feeling that abounds upon entering the home based on its furnishings and style of d?cor. It just feels warm and comfortable like home always should. Let me try to zero-in that feeling a little better. The newer cabinets and Corian- like counters and fresh paint everywhere brighten the atmosphere. Walking in and seeing an inviting foosball table and space where it doesnt seem crowded for an atmosphere of family games is appealing to me. The furnishings and appointments make this place look ready to rent but it doesnt look like theyve ever trusted anyone with it besides close friends and family. The beamed, vaulting ceilings lend a sense of grandeur. Touches as insignificant as light fixtures have their effect and add up to touches youll never need to address while achieving overall ambiance. Downstairs is a great big and very nice game table for all manner of board games and conviviality. Lets play scrabble and catch up and talk about all the weird stuff we said and did when we were kids. This home just takes you there right now.
