Are there legitimate companies that will assist you in cleaning up your credit scores?

If so, is there a fee for this service? Or can I get this service free?

There are some good companies out there, but you have to be very realistic in your expectations. Every person's situation is different. It is very important to keep in mind that it isn't enought to remove the negative information, you MUST establish positive credit. I have one guy I trust... Mike Wells with The Wells Group. He is licensed with the State of Oklahoma and very resonable in his pricing. You can get more info online at WellsGroupOK dot com.

Of course there are. We generally will recommend a local lender who is committed to working with sincere clients who truly want to improve their finacial situation and eventually quailfy for financing. And no, they do not charge for their services. Bobby

They are a scam. They do what you as a consumer can do yourself except they charge you for it. Do a little research and you will find the steps you need to take in order to get your credit in better shape. Start with a free credit report from all 3 agencies at annualcreditreport (dot)com. This is the government mandated site and they're free, period. Once you have obtained your reports, they will give you tips on how to do various things to improve your credit. From what I understand, you can dispute bad credit on your report which forces the creditor to respond within 30 days (I think) to your request and if they don't, the credit bureau can delete the account so try these things first before your throw your money away. Beyond that, you are the only one you can improve your credit. Pay your bills on time, work with people you owe and stay out of debt. I hope all this helps!
