Should I have received a title to my house from the bank after I paid off the loan?

What you should receive is a Release of Lien. This should be filed with the County (you need to do it, if the mortgage company doesn't), and also let your insurance company know so that any proceeds from a claim now come directly to you.

You should receive a release of lien approximately 45 to 60 days after you paid off your home. Most often times, it is takes 30 days for processing and then a little more time after that.

You should have received a deed when you bought the home. The deed will put you in title. Once you pay the home off the Bank will send you a release of lien that will need to be recorded in the county clerks office that you home is located in. Some banks record the release and then the county will send it to you, but you might have to record the release your self. Keep the release in a safe place.

You should have recieved a deed when you purchsed the home. The deed puts you in title. The Bank will send you a release of lien after you pay it off. This release of lien needs to be recorded in the County that you home is located in. Some banks record it for you, but you might have to record it. It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for you to get your release of lien.

Homes dont have titles they have deeds. Inwhich was signed when you purchased the property. It may take time, but it will be recorded as released. Should also appear on your credit report also. But for some reason they dont get in a hurry to get everything recorded. Hope this helps!

No. When you signed the documents at the closing, you already took ownership of the home. It is legally under your name in the deed of trust. When you pay off your mortgage you should receive a document known as Satisfactory of Mortgage which is proof of you paying off your mortgage. They should filed that at the local court house so that title companies can see that you paid off your mortgage. Please let me know if you have further questions.
