I would strongly suggest talking to the local home owners association. You can also request a copy of the deed restrictions from either the title company you are looking to close at or by looking them up at the county. I find this can be difficult but it can be done. I have served on our HOA for over five years now and welcome questions anytime possible from potential new neighbors.

Each community you are interested in should have a web site giving you more information or directing you to other sites for more details

The best thing is to an experienced Realtor who knows the area. You can also go into the stores and shops in the area to see who your neighbors would be. Call me if I can help you find a house, I am in my 15th year in the DFW area!

It might be wise to find some homes that interest you and then follow up with a specific question on the neighborhood. Many Realtors can offer you information, sometimes from their own experience, about particular locations. At our website we actually have a lot of demographics built in for buyers to peruse while they're searching.

In addition to the community web sites, you can get demographic and school information on several web sites. Do an Internet search for Community Demographics. Some sites with such information are ZipSkinny and city-data.

A lot of subdivisions have websites that have details about the schools, shopping, etc on their site. Try that first.
