They frame in differently to accommodate the height. If you are building with a builder and go to the design center, you are able to select hardwoods in the kitchen & breakfast nook. In this case, the builder will calculate the height difference that true hardwoods have in comparison to ceramic tile. As for textured walls, the trend here in Dallas Real Estate is to do a Monterrey style texture on the kitchen & bathroom walls. We are still seeing a lot of orange peel texture. As for the skip trowel walls done around 2006, we are not seeing that trend anymore, it's phased out of popularity.
