She has a remarkable knowledge of the market and represented her clients and us well. Our purchase was easy and without drama. I very much appreciated her help during our transition from Lexington, KY to Spencer, IA.William ShafferAfter deciding to relocate to the area over a year ago, I was given Lori's name by another realtor in the Lakes region. I had decided to look at property in Spencer during my home search. I shared with Lori my expectations in a new home and my price range. Lori was very respectful of that price range as well as finding homes that met my criteria. Lori is honest, is not afraid to point out the shortcomings along with the positives in a home and helps you put the emotional side of house hunting aside so that you can truly decide for yourself whether a home is the right fit for you. Lori is dedicated to her customers and I would tell anyone, and have, that she will do her very best in helping you find that perfect place to call home.Diane TuckerI had a rewarding experience working with Lori Black. I would recommend her to my friends and family.Carole PetersonI've known Lori for many years and I know she's been in the realty market for as long as I can remember, so when I started looking for a home she was the first person I thought to go to. Whenever I wanted to look at a specific house, she was always willing to take me to look right away. She also had all of the answers to my questions, and there were quite a few. She also remembered things I liked and what I didn't like and would recommend homes for me based on that as well. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for their next home!Matt StarksonI have not known Lori long, only about a year. But I have had a lot of dealings with her. Since I live out of atate, and the homes I have been selling are in Spencer, I think the very kindest thing I can say about Lori is that she has kept me in the loop constantly. There have been many phone calls back and forth, but always, everything works out. She is an absolute professional. Many thanks Lori for all your help.Ina Belle FerrendelliLori Black is a new comer's dream. She shows houses through out all neighbourhoods, pointing out advantages and disadvantages depending on the clients needs. We asked her to take us through the gambit over a number of visits (from out of state) and she enthusiastically supported our curiosity all along the way. She connected us with structural professionals so we could buy our house with the best insight possible - and then employ a terrific contractor to carry out changes. Throughout our search she kept us up to date over the internet - greatly appreciated! She works with sellers - in our case everyone was happy with the negotiating process. After we arrived she welcomed us with a taste of local flavor. Since we've settled in she has remained an occasional acquaintance and that is so nice. We found Lori on the internet, we focused on local realtors v. national chains. She met our expectations and then some. We are most impressed with her willingness to meet us where we are... introducing us to the part of Spencer Iowa we most enjoy. Recommending her to a friend I would say, "Don,t worry, she will read you well and meet you where you are." I endorse Lori without reservation. Rebecca ShafferRebecca Shaffer

New on Our BlogThe 8 Most Popular Hipster Cities Where Young People Are Calling Home Bobbie Preston It’s Hip to Be Where? Hipsterism is an odd cultural phenomenon, in that one of the prerequisites for membership in the club is to vehemently deny said membership. So, how can you find out which cities are the most “hipster?” You can’t conduct a hipster survey, as legit hipsters would never deign to participate in such a thing. Instead, you have to comb the data for telltale signs of hipsterdom: things like a young, college educated populace; robust arts and music scenes; and a high per-capita concentration of independent coffee shops, yoga studios, record stores, microbreweries, and farmer’s markets. It’s also a good idea to find out where recent college grads are planning on moving. So which cities in the country are known for being the hippest? Seattle, Washington Seattle has been hipster since hipster was grunge. OK, you could argue that the two are not the same thing, and you’d be right, but there’s definitely more than a little ‘90s influence in the average hipster ensemble. Seattle has it all: great coffee, a youthful and highly educated populace, an inspired culinary scene, and an artistic community that’s been keeping it weird since 1985. Denver, Colorado On the surface, Denver doesn’t look like a hipster enclave. But check out neighborhoods like LoHi, South Broadway, and River North, and you’ll get the picture pretty quickly. There are plenty of cool little enclaves in the Mile High City, not to mention legal marijuana, left-of-center politics, and facial hair… lots of it. Austin, Texas Austin, Texas is home to the annual SXSW festival, one of the coolest music, film, and interactive extravaganzas in the country. There are more quirky food trucks than you can shake a stick at, and perhaps more importantly, it seems like everyone in Austin is some type of artist. Don’t be surprised if you hear things like “Well, I’m a doctor, but that’s just my day job. I’m really more of a collage artist.” Asheville, North Carolina Like Seattle, Asheville is a place with hipster street cred that dates back to the mid ‘80s. It’s full of independent bookshops, vintage clothiers, and brewpubs. It’s not trying to be cool; it just is cool. Asheville seems a bit like Austin’s little brother, smaller but less self-conscious. Oakland, California We all know San Francisco is cool – it was basically the birthplace of the whole counterculture movement. It’s also become one of the most expensive places to live, which is why savvy hipsters have been relocating to Oakland now for years. What’s not to like? Oakland has some of the best farm-to-fork food in the country, and there are plenty of art galleries, live music venues, and old-fashioned barbershops. It’s kind of like the Brooklyn of the West. Portland, Oregon Portland, Oregon has long been known as a hipster enclave, but it’s really blown up over the past ten years. Some locals say that’s not necessarily a good thing, as formerly affordable blue-collar neighborhoods are razed to make way for high-rent condos every week, it seems.
