Situated just 25 miles south of downtown Houston, Alvin, Texas, is a mid-sized city that retains the feeling of a smaller community. Popular recreational activities include biking, hiking, fishing and golfing. Alvin also boasts a variety of casual restaurants, a number of convenient shopping centers and an outpost of the renowned University of Texas Medical Branch. Local residents have ample access to the multitude of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities in nearby Houston. In addition, they have access to boating and other outdoor activities in the coastal communities of Clear Lake and Galveston. The city is also close to NASA’s Johnson Space Center. In the summertime, Alvin shares the hot, humid days common to the region. However, temperatures can get quite cool during the winter months.
