Located on the university grounds is the Georgia Museum of Art, the official state art museum. A staple in the community since 1982, an expansion and remodeling project was completed in 2011. There are many options for traveling through the city, which has a population of about 115,000 people. Biking through the city is a popular choice for transportation, with bike Lanes provided on major thoroughfares. Athens Transit is a bus service that provides transportation 6 days a week. Southeastern Stages, a subsidiary of Greyhound, also provides bus services; Megabus offers bus service to Atlanta. The Athens Ben Epps Airport has existed since 1917 and is used mostly for general aviation.
