Atlanta is the capital of Georgia, and is also the state’s most populous city. The city has a diverse economy that ranks 8th in the nation and 36th in the world, and as such it is considered an "alpha-city" or "world city." It is the global headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company, as well as other major corporations like Home Depot and UPS. The company in Atlanta that employs the most people is Delta Air Lines. Behind that company is AT&T. Both of these companies, as well as Emory University, each respectively employs over 20,000 individuals. Cox Enterprises is a privately held conglomerate which focuses on communications and automotive, and it makes up the next largest source of employment for Atlantans.
