& Check-In with Hurricane Victims

In late October of 2012, Hurricane Sandy greatly affected the East Coast, leaving almost 8 million families without power and thousands without a home. The Correa family, of Staten Island, was one of those families who inspired us to take action. Dedicated to helping out the Correa family, and partnered with legendary actor/comedian Steve Harvey and The Steve Harvey Show to help out the Correa family by covering 12 months of their temporary rental home costs.

Since the show aired on December 6, 2012, the Correa family has been living in their rental home and is now starting to think about buying a new home. The Correa family mentioned that this experience has brought them closer as a family. Missing their home, which they mentioned was a great place to spend time during the summer because of its pool, the family has been taking advantage of local water parks and beaches.

Peter and I understand how lucky we are. Many people in our community are still displaced and staying in temporary housing or with family. I have used this experience to really think about what I want in life. Peter and I are stronger than ever.”- Jennifer Correa and are excited to share that the Correa family is doing well!
