Did the President Elect Carrying Her State Make Rosie Pack Up?

Unless you’ve been living under a very large rock, like a serious boulder or unfinished slab of granite, you know that Donald Trump won the presidential election of 2016, carrying Florida and several other swing states. You also most likely know about president-elect Trump’s longstanding feud with comedian-turned-actress-turned-talk-show-host Rosie O’Donnell. What you may not know is that Rosie O’Donnell expressed her lack of confidence in a Trump Presidency by indicating that she’d move out of the country if The Donald won.

Rosie, as it turns out, was in great company when she made the threat to leave Trump’s America in the rear view mirror. According to a recent Newsday article, many celebrities indicated in the run-up to the Tuesday, November 8th election that should Trump carry the day they’d be leaving for such exotic locales as Iceland, Africa, and other (as yet unnamed) planets.

Unlike the rest of the pack, Rosie may be making good on the threat. She put her absolutely gorgeous West Palm Beach, Florida estate up for sale this month. If you’re on the market for celebrity ex-residences, you can pick up this gem for a cool six million and change.

The Listing

The home itself has six bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and a mother-in-law suite that, together with the kitchen, living room, and other assorted rooms, make up the 5,700 square foot that comes with a stunning in-ground pool, Intercoastal Waterway access and views, a private dock for your boat, a boat lift (to keep your boat from getting barnacles), two loggias (rooms that have three walls and are open to the outdoors) – both with fireplaces, and many, many other great features.

The Numbers

Listed at just over six million dollars and measuring no less than 5,700 square feet, Rosie’s old house will cost you just over a thousand dollars a square foot. With a thirty-year fixed mortgage and a standard 20% down payment of 1.2 million, your monthly payment for O’Donnell’s opulent digs would be just over $31,000, assuming you can qualify for a 4% interest rate.

Of that $31,000 monthly payment, just over $6,000 would go to the local government in the way of taxes, and just over a grand would pay for your homeowner’s policy.

The Final Analysis

You’re probably never going to qualify for an FHA loan, so if you’re interested, you’ll need to raise over a million to get into Rosie’s house. Regardless of her reasons for leaving the home (and possibly the state, or the country), she’s leaving behind an absolutely stunning home worth taking a virtual tour of, even if there’s no way you could ever afford it.
