Cities Derived from Love
Love is in the Air
Modern Valentine’s Day is a far cry from its roots in Ancient Rome, which celebrated the Lupercalia festival in mid-February. Our current Valentine’s Day focuses more on poetic cards, sweet chocolates, and beautiful flowers exchanged with people we love. But love isn’t confined to a dozen long-stem roses or a delicious box of chocolates; it can be found in all sorts of places! They can be a romantic start for a new family, memorable wedding venue, honeymoon destination, or just a place to rekindle love.
Where Love Lives
If straightforward love is what you are after, you might want to purchase a home in Loveland, Colorado. A home to over 75,000 people, their active Parks and Recreation Department provides a wide array of romantic activities. Here you can find everything from recreational trails to picturesque beaches on the lake.
If a warmer clime piques your interest, you might settle in the small town of Lovington, New Mexico. With its dry, temperate climate, residents enjoy warm summer days, cool nights, and mild winters. On the other hand, if you love the majesty of winter then look no farther than the tiny village of Heart Butte in Montana, near Glacier National Park. It is one of the oldest communities of the Blackfeet, Montana’s largest Native American tribe.
Another option for couples looking for love would be any of the sprawling, rural communities located in Love County, Oklahoma. Encompassing 532 acres of beautiful farm and ranch land, it features pristine lakes and nature. Also it is home to the Winstar World Casino if that’s more your thing. If a city full of music is more your jam, consider Mount Juliet, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.
Take Love on Vacation, Too
If you’re looking for a memorable romantic getaway instead, America has a wide variety of lovely places for a special destination. Chicago hosts the playful Cupid’s Undie Run, allowing folks to dash through Wrigleyville in their intimates while raising funds for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. If you find yourself in New York, check out their Valentine’s Dinner Cruise, or Dinners in the Dark, an opportunity to enjoy a meal blindfolded at the world famous Camje Bistro. Do you find a warmer option more appealing? Visit romantic Kissimmee, Florida and attend their famous Valentine’s Concert the evening of February 14th.
Plan Your Romance Wisely
And while we rarely try to steer people away from a location based solely on its name, if love is your intent you should avoid booking your romantic getaway in Washington state’s Cape Disappointment Park for obvious reasons.
